Welcome to Rock Universe’s weekly music news roundup, covering the biggest stories from 5–9 October 2026.
This week brought major 2027 tour announcements, several long-awaited albums, new music from rock and metal favourites, and a powerful return from thrash legends Power Trip. Album releases and new music
Greta Van Fleet release Palace for the People
Greta Van Fleet have released their fourth studio album, Palace for the People, today, 9 October.
The album follows 2023’s Starcatcher and continues the Michigan band’s modern take on classic rock. The 13-track record includes “Tear It Down”, “Play Your Games” and “Saw You Stand”.
The band recorded the album in Tennessee during spring 2026 and worked with producer Mike Elizondo. Alongside the release, Greta Van Fleet have also announced their 2027 Into the Beginning tour, which will take them across North America and Europe.

Trivium announce Crown in the Grave
Trivium have announced their 11th studio album, Crown in the Grave, due for release on 20 November through Roadrunner Records.
The band have also shared the album’s title track, giving fans an early look at the direction of the new record. The release reunites Trivium with producer Josh Wilbur and is the first full-length album to feature drummer Alex Rüdinger in the current line-up.
The announcement comes with a North American tour beginning on 5 November. That makes the next few months an exciting time for Trivium fans, with the new material likely to feature heavily in the live set.
Grimes unveils PSYOPERA
Grimes has announced a new album called PSYOPERA and shared its first single, “Accelerando”.
The album will be her first full-length release since 2020’s Miss Anthropocene. It is expected to explore artificial intelligence, technology, religion, war and the strange cultural conversations surrounding modern life.
There is currently no confirmed release date, but the new track suggests that PSYOPERA will be one of Grimes’ most experimental projects yet. The album is also expected to arrive through her own Nazgul Recording LLC label.

Troye Sivan releases She’s the Best
Troye Sivan has released his fourth studio album, She’s the Best, today.
The album arrives with the new single “FF” and explores themes of desire, identity, loneliness, joy and queer belonging. Sivan has described the record as a colourful snapshot of his life, with collaborators including Jack Antonoff, George Daniel, Cirkut, Madison Love and Leland.

Daddy Yankee announces LA POSTAL
Daddy Yankee has announced a new album titled LA POSTAL, led by the single “BOTZ”.
The project marks another chapter in the artist’s changing musical direction and follows his recent focus on faith, personal growth and life beyond his earlier reggaeton career. Further details about the tracklist and release date are still expected.
Slash ft. Myles Kennedy & The Conspirators announce Flying Blind
Slash ft. Myles Kennedy & The Conspirators have announced their fifth album, Flying Blind, due on 26 February 2027 via Gibson Records.
The title track is out now alongside a new video, giving fans a first taste of the band’s next chapter. The announcement also comes with plans for the 2027 Flying Blind World Tour, which starts in Latin America in April before heading into North America from 23 April and then on to the UK and Europe.
UK dates already confirmed include Cardiff Castle on 30 June and London’s Eventim Apollo on 7 July, making this one of the biggest hard rock launches of the week. If the new single is anything to go by, there will be plenty of excitement around both the record and the tour, and it is exactly the kind of release that sends fans back to officially licensed band T-shirts and classic rock staples at Rock Universe.
Major tour announcements

Def Leppard announce a huge 45-date North American tour
Def Leppard have announced a massive 45-date North American tour for 2027, with Goo Goo Dolls and The Struts joining the line-up.
The tour begins on 2 March in Allentown, Pennsylvania, and runs through to 2 July in Indianapolis. The route includes major cities across the United States and Canada, with stops at venues including the Hollywood Bowl, Madison Square Garden and Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena.
Artist fan club presales begin on 12 October, while general ticket sales start on 16 October. Def Leppard have also confirmed that one dollar from every ticket sold will be donated to City of Hope.

Greta Van Fleet prepare to go Into the Beginning
Alongside Palace for the People, Greta Van Fleet have announced their Into the Beginning tour for 2027.
The run is expected to be one of the band’s biggest tours so far, covering North America and Europe. With a new album to promote and several strong festival appearances behind them, Greta Van Fleet look set to continue building their reputation as one of the leading modern classic rock bands.
Good Charlotte return to Europe and the UK
Good Charlotte have announced the return of their Motel Du Cap EU/UK tour.
The news arrives alongside “U R”, a new collaboration with Ziggy Marley. The track will appear on the returning Greetings From California release, which is due on 6 November.
The combination of pop-punk nostalgia and a new reggae-influenced collaboration gives the project a fresh angle, while the tour will give fans a chance to revisit Good Charlotte’s biggest songs in a live setting. “U R” is also listed among this week’s new releases by Official Charts.
Guns N’ Roses join Aerosmith at the Hollywood Bowl
Guns N’ Roses will join Aerosmith as special guests for two Hollywood Bowl shows on 29 October and 1 November.
The concerts are part of Aerosmith’s California, Dream On: Aerosmith & Friends shows. The line-up will include a range of special guests, making both dates a major event for fans of classic American rock.

Godsmack add more US dates
Godsmack have expanded their Rise of Rock World Tour with additional US dates in October.

Chase & Status announce a 2027 UK and European tour
Chase & Status have released their new album Generic Everything and announced a 2027 UK and European tour.
The electronic duo’s new record includes collaborations with J Hus, Little Simz, Skrillex, Giggs, D Double E, Blanco, IRAH and Col3trane. It is one of the week’s biggest releases outside the guitar-based music scene.
Staind add a second leg to their Break the Cycle anniversary run
Staind have added a second leg of their sold-out Break the Cycle 25th Anniversary Tour, extending the celebration into a 27-city North American run from March 2027.
Seether, Hoobastank and Hinder will join the line-up, giving the tour a very big early-2000s rock feel from top to bottom. General tickets are on sale now, so fans who missed the first wave have another shot at catching one of the band’s most important records back in the spotlight.
Twin Temple preview Doomed Lovers and confirm a 2027 tour
Twin Temple have shared a new song called “Nothing Matters” ahead of their upcoming release Doomed Lovers, which lands on 23 October.
They have also announced a 2027 North American tour, giving their growing fanbase more chances to see the band bring their dramatic doo-wop-meets-occult style to the stage. Between the new single and the tour news, Twin Temple have made sure they stay firmly on the radar this week.
Lollapalooza reveals its 2027 South American lineups
Lollapalooza has unveiled its 2027 South American lineups for Argentina, Brazil and Chile, with Travis Scott, Charli xcx and The Killers leading the headline names.

Primavera Sound lines up a huge 25th anniversary in Barcelona
Primavera Sound has also revealed key names for its 25th anniversary edition in Barcelona, including Phoebe Bridgers, Massive Attack and The Chemical Brothers.
It is an early look at what should be one of 2027’s biggest European festival weekends, and a reminder that the festival calendar is already filling up fast.

The digital special edition arrived earlier this week with four additional recordings, including “City Fox”, “One Night Stand” and “Chelsea Boots”.
