Weekly International Music News Roundup
Friday 16 October 2026
Welcome to this week’s international music news roundup. U2 are gearing up for a huge 2027, Ministry are preparing to say goodbye, and new albums are landing from Fontaines D.C., Insomnium and more. Plus: a major pop collaboration, European tour news and festivals taking over Seoul, Miami and Paris this weekend.
U2 announce a 2027 world tour and new album
U2 have announced a 2027 world tour titled “Carnaval De Luz Presents: The Greatest Show On Earth.” The run is set to begin in Mexico City in February, with Beck joining as support. The band have also released a new single, “The Greatest Show on Earth,” ahead of their 16th studio album, Carnaval De Luz, due 13 November.
It’s a big week for U2 fans: a new song now, a new album next month and a chance to see the band live next year. Follow the latest announcements on U2’s official news page.

Ministry set a final album and farewell tour
Ministry have announced that their final album, Hate To Go (Take Out Or Delivery), arrives 30 October. The band have also lined up a 21-date “Goodbye Europe” farewell tour for April 2027.
The news marks a significant moment for a group whose heavy, industrial sound has left a lasting mark on alternative music. Their latest track, “We Hate,” is already out, and the farewell dates will bring Ministry to venues across Europe, including stops in the UK. Read more in V13 Media’s report.

More tours to put on your 2027 radar
There’s plenty more live news for fans planning ahead. Memphis May Fire and Dead By April have announced a co-headlining tour across Europe and the UK for spring 2027, with tickets on sale this week. Meanwhile, Downset. have confirmed a European headline tour for March.
There’s a change of plan for Exhorder, who have cancelled the final three shows of their 2026 tour. Keep an eye on the bands’ official channels for the latest ticket and schedule updates.
New albums: a busy Friday for new music
Fontaines D.C. lead this week’s New Music Friday with Dopamine Chamber, released today. It’s the band’s fifth studio album and follows Romance. The official XL Recordings album page lists today’s release and gives fans a closer look at the record. If you’re ready for something new, start with the album’s lead single, “Marianne.”

Today also brings new releases from Rachel Chinouriri, with I think I spoke too soon, and Ashe, with The Girl Of Your Dreams. Metal fans can check out Netherworlds, the tenth studio album from Insomnium, released today. Its new track “The Hour Grows Late” features members of Amorphis.
Earlier this month, on 9 October, Greta Van Fleet released their fifth studio album, Palace For The People. And there’s more for fans digging into the week’s heavier releases: The Number Twelve Looks Like You have put out Howls From The Holographic Heart alongside a remastered version of Mongrel.

Olivia Rodrigo and Chappell Roan team up
One of the week’s standout pop collaborations comes from Olivia Rodrigo and Chappell Roan, who have released a remix of “Expectations” along with a new video. The pairing brings two of pop’s most talked-about voices together on one track.
For more on the collaboration, see Variety’s report.
A date check on aespa: The LEMONADE album and “WDA (Whole Different Animal)” featuring G-Dragon have also been mentioned in this week’s music conversation. However, available coverage dates that announcement to May 2026, rather than this week, so we’re not counting it as a new October announcement. Read the earlier report.
Festivals happening this weekend
The festival calendar is packed. Grand Mint Festival 2026 takes over Seoul’s Olympic Park on 17–18 October, with Lee Sora, Younha and 10cm x Soran among the performers. The event also includes open-broadcast sessions, signing events and an art zone. See the festival lineup and weekend details.

Elsewhere, III Points Music Festival runs in Miami on 16–17 October, while MaMA Music & Convention wraps up in Paris today, 16 October, after running from the 14th. And this month, Philly Music Fest celebrates its 10th anniversary.
From Seoul’s autumn festival atmosphere to Miami’s weekend stages, there are plenty of ways to make live music part of the week.
That’s the week in music
U2’s new tour and album plans, Ministry’s farewell, a stack of new releases and a fresh Rodrigo–Roan collaboration made this a week full of news for music fans. Add a run of international festivals and 2027 tours already taking shape, and there’s plenty to look forward to.
